During a crisis, it’s easy to just give up and not market your business. However, it’s during times like this is when you really should focus on your digital marketing as it is one of the strongest ways to develop your business. Digital’s much easier to be, agile, efficient and cost-effective than more traditional marketing methods.

Tips

To help businesses understand what they need to do to reach their market audiences online, I have outlined a few tips that will help you:

  • To start with, make sure that your website is engaging, free of mistakes and offers value to your user.
  • Be sympathetic. Be aware of what’s going on around you and the crisis that your user may be in. Offer help and support and give them as much reassurance that you can to help them through this crisis. Remember that these users have come to your website for a reason and you must identify what that reason is. This can be done through trialling different content and installing analytical software like Google Analytics and Hotjar. Once you’ve identified what the user’s reasons are you can then display the content you feel is needed to get their attention and so they feel that they gain value from visiting your site.
  • Make it easy for them to get in contact with you. Maybe outline popular pain points that they can relate to and once they see your solutions and services this will help with their confidence levels.

The past tells us that in every recession, crisis or downturn, the businesses that keep marketing always come out the strongest. Angle has lived through numerous recessions and has lived to tell the tale. Don’t get us wrong it’s very difficult and you need to be headstrong to survive. Buttoning down the hatches and removing as much cost as possible will help, as well as remaining positive and talking to your clients.

How to adjust your website without an agency or developer

There are things that you can do by yourself so that you don’t need to employ an agency or developer to help with adjusting your website to combat tough times. These simple but important tasks mean you can still market on a shoestring:

  1. Ensure your website is up-to-date
  2. Ensure your website is engaging with pictures and well-written content.
  3. If you have a blog, keep it up-to-date with relevant content and value-added tips. This demonstrates that you’re still in business and happy to help.
  4. Make sure your social channels are kept up-to-date.

If you have some budget to work with professionals…

If you want to really push the boat out and have a budget, it would make sense to consider some of the following changes:

  1. Turn your website into an e-commerce website.
  2. Many businesses are now working from home, so many will be browsing using their mobiles a lot more than usual to make sure your website is optimised for mobile use.
  3. This is the time where you need to be demonstrating value by helping clients and prospects out with ideas. So, if you haven’t got a blog right now, I suggest you start writing content that will be indexed by Google, helping you and your content will help your website visitors.
  4. Make sure you have strong call-to-action buttons that make it easy for your users to get in touch with you.

Be innovative. Be brave. Be helpful.
